Handover notes for mid-cycle staff changes

Hands reviewing documents with a pen

Audit cycles outlast job tenures more often than programme plans admit. When a finding owner leaves mid-remediation, successors inherit half-sentences in chat and a due date that nobody can explain.

Module 4 of our flagship course asks learners to write handover notes as if the next reader has never attended a prior clinic. The note lives on the finding record inside the coordination app — not in a personal notebook.

Minimum fields that survive a leave day

State the finding in one sentence, the evidence still missing, the next supplier contact, the escalation path already agreed, and the date the window closes. Optional colour is welcome; optional structure is not.

Rehearse the swap

During the capstone dry-run we sometimes reassign findings mid-session. Teams discover quickly which notes were written for themselves and which notes work for a stranger.

If your organisation cannot tolerate that rehearsal, at least pair owners before holidays so a second person has opened the record once.
